The Smith Family in Boiling Springs // an encore!

The Smiths are making an encore appearance in our blog and we couldn’t have been happier to spend the day with them!

Documenting a family is such an honor for us. We hang out, experience who they are, how they interact with each other. We become part of them for a day. The results are much different from the stiff, super-posed stuff you usually get with family portraits. We do feel lucky that we get to witness such intimate family moments.

To immerse ourselves in the moment sometimes we are just a fly on the wall…

Sometimes we hide…. and get caught!

Sometimes we just have to get down and dirty (not that I’m complaining… look at that smile! mine was almost as big behind the camera)

Sometimes we go outside and play “pretend” with heavy artillery

Other times we just have to become the target and take one for the team…

Sometimes the best results are achieved by just watching from afar and letting things happen…

And sometimes all we do is just turn around and be lucky to have a camera in our hands

Now, don’t get us wrong. we do give some direction when we encounter an opportunity for a good shot …..
